epiphany!

today we were watching the olympics.

it was track. the women's 10,000 m.

we wanted to know how many miles that was, so i looked it up.

and me, so clever, told my family,

"it's 6.2 miles. so basically its the same as a 10k."

well, duh, syd. 10,000 m = 10 km. *

.facepalm.

*now would be a good time to confess that i was never any good at the metric units in math. well...i was never any good at math, but i always failed those metric quizzes in elementary school. aaand that's not a joke.

so this leads me to the question that has been asked thousands of times:

why doesn't america use the metric system?

it would save me (and i think a lot of other people?) from those lame facepalm moments.
