pablo the toad and other adventures

i don't really even know what to blog about. but...it's been a while, so here i am! what's happened in the past week and a half...i don't even know. a lot?

i stole some gnomes (and a lizard and pig thing) with my friend zach who just got home from his mission.

we took them from a friend's house, don't worry. and we returned them, of course...

i tell cammie she is the sunshine of my life. she tells me she loves me and kisses my cheek. it's a good friendship we've got going.

i played mini golf and caught a toad named pablo with steph, zach, and nate. it's so fun to have friends home from their missions.

today i was cleaning up my room. 

[there may or may not have been a small laundry explosion.] 

while cleaning, i found things that are just so...me. 

 they describe my life.

as a ycl (youth camp leader) at girls camp, my nickname was sparkles. for obvious reasons. one of my 12 year olds made this sign for me. it says "sparkles pokey." no one is really sure what it means.

bulletin board: inflatable toast, a quote from grandma carole, a dollar that sasha wrote on, a calistoga keychain, the wrapper from one of those tinfoil emergency blankets that cammie and i shared one night (that is another story entirely), and a letter from erin judd.

desk: lamp with crown from my 15th birthday (made by marie), an old cd case with 2 cds in it (american idol season 2 and bering strait), a stick pony

diy thursday : sparkle shoe edition

does anyone remember the disney channel show "phil of the future?" 

well in one episode, his little sister, pim said to her parents "it's spackle tuesday!" my family quotes that pretty much every tuesday.

so today i decided that thursdays are diy thursday. maybe not every single thursday. but i want to try and do some sort of craft project at least once a week because hey, a girl's gotta keep busy, you know?

so today i decided that a pair of cheap-o target keds needed to be glittered.

i took some modge podge (which is actually called mod podge), some glitter, my shoes, and some duct tape. and i made some awesome summer shoes. 

ready? here's the project.

grab your goods. shoes, modge podge, glitter, brushes, duct tape.

make sure your toes are glittery, too. and put on your most sparkly playlist - mine happens to include natalie cole, aretha franklin, the isley brothers, and the supremes.

then you might want to grab some breakfast and move outside because glitter gets everywhere.

mix the glitter and modge podge. duct tape off the parts you don't want glittery. paint on a thin layer of the glitter mix and let it dry for about 20 minutes.

second layer: go all out. seriously. lay it on thick. third layer: touch ups only.

ok. my life. let's talk about how it has had some ups and downs the past two weeks. there have been a lot of those. but we're not going to talk about the downs, because the ups have been some of the greatest of all time!

like that one time i got to spend the night at apple's house and she made AMAZING food and we laughed and cried and then she made me breakfast in bed. and i love her.
